Questions people ask before they switch
Are electronic signatures legally binding?
Yes. In the United States the ESIGN Act (2000) and UETA give electronic signatures the same legal standing as ink, and the EU’s eIDAS regulation does the same across Europe. FormSignature records the signer’s intent, consent, identity and a full timestamped event log with every document so it can be relied on if it’s ever challenged.
Do my signers need an account?
No. Signers receive a secure link by email or SMS, open it in any browser, and sign. They don’t need to install anything or create a login. They receive their own sealed copy when the document completes.
What file types can I upload?
PDF, Word (.doc/.docx), and common image formats (PNG, JPG). Everything is converted to a locked PDF for signing, and the completed file is delivered as a PDF.
What happens to a document after it’s signed?
It is sealed with a digital certificate and hashed. Any change to the file after that point breaks the seal, which is how you can prove it hasn’t been altered. The certificate of completion — who signed, when, from which device and IP, and how they were verified — travels with the PDF.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. Paid plans are month-to-month or yearly, and you can downgrade to Free whenever you like. Your completed documents stay accessible on every plan.
Can I move over from another e-signature tool?
Yes. Upload your existing PDFs and rebuild templates in minutes. Business customers can ask us to import their templates for them during onboarding.
